Build a 1765 New York Corner Chair with W. Mickey Callahan
 
Corner or roundabout chairs are not as common for the period, they are never-the-less a fully developed chair that is extremely comfortable and building one provides a unique and challenging experience. In this week long class, Mickey will take you from the chair's historical significance to the nuts and bolts of creating your very own chair. This chair was originally featured in a construction article written by Mickey for Fine Woodworking magazine, Issue #215, Nov./Dec. 2010. This class will precede the start of SAPFM's 2011 mid-year conference at CVSW beginning on Friday, June 26. Please contact CVSW for more details.

Woodcarving For Beginners
 
A two day class that will introduce students to the fundamentals of woodcarving, including sharpeninging techniques, proper tool selection, design layout, and logical sequence of carving steps. The class will include a number of practice sharpening and carving exercises culminating in the creation of a deep relief-carved wall plaque. Please contact CVSW for more details.

Five Week Intensive Furniture Making Workshop
 
This class is designed for the serious student who has the time and desire to commit to a comprhensive woodworking course of study. Starting in mid-Oct. and going through mid Nov. (four days a week for 5 weeks) students will be guided through a series of comprehensive and fundamental training ecercises systematically designed to help students develop and advance their woodworking skills in cabinet and furniture making. Completion of the course will enable students to work more independently on advanced and specilaized techniques used in a vast array of furniture and cabinet making styles and designs.
